Televisionsklub launches Kabelio: the best cable TV channels from Switzerland now available via satellite

13.10.2020

Pfäffikon / Freienbach, October 13, 2020: On October 15, 2020, the new Kabelio TV service will be launched via satellite for viewers residing in Switzerland. The service of Kabelio AG, Pfäffikon, comprises 34 TV channels in HD quality, many of which have not yet been broadcast via satellite.

With Kabelio, viewers in Switzerland can for the first time receive the Swiss HD channels of the Media Group RTL (RTL Schweiz HD, RTL II Schweiz HD, VOX Schweiz HD) and the Seven. One Entertainment Group (ProSieben Schweiz HD, SAT.1 Schweiz HD, Kabel Eins Schweiz HD, Puls 8) via satellite. Also for the first time, all seven national channels of CH Media (3+, 4+, 5+, 6+, TV24, TV25 and S1) and the regional Tele Züri are now available via satellite. The seven SRG SSR channels (SRF1, SRFzwei, SRF Info, RTS 1, RTS 2, RSI 1, RSI 2) are also included in the package as part of a cooperation, along with many popular channels from Germany, Austria and England (ARD, ZDF, ORF I, ORF II, BBC One, BBC Two, ITV one). The offer is rounded off by French channels (France 2, TF1, M6) and the Italian channel Canale 5.

Damir Krilcic, CEO of Kabelio: "With Kabelio, we are closing a supply gap for all TV households with satellite reception in Switzerland. We offer viewers an attractive range of programs with many HD channels that were previously only available in cable or that could only be viewed via satellite in standard digital quality. It is particularly easy to get started for all existing households that already receive their programs via satellite. All they have to do is change the CI access module and watch SRG SSR's channels as usual - and many other popular channels in HD quality - in line with our slogan "One for all". But of course our offer is also aimed at all other TV households in Switzerland and we hope that Kabelio will be able to give new impetus to the competition between TV infrastructures".

Roger Elsener, Managing Director Entertainment CH Media: "We are very pleased that after 3+, our other national TV channels and TeleZüri can now also be received via satellite in Kabelio's channel bouquet. As a result, many additional TV households will be able to watch our hit formats such as "Bachelor", "Bauer, single, sucht...", "Sing meinen Song - Das Schweizer Tauschkonzert" or, from the 2021/2022 season, the UEFA Champions League.

Kabelio reception

To receive Kabelio channels, viewers need a satellite system that is aligned to the Eutelsat Hotbird 13 degrees East position - which is already the case for a large proportion of satellite households in Switzerland. The smartcard-less access (cardless CA) to Kabelio is provided by the Kabelio CI+ module, which is simply plugged into the corresponding slot in the TV or set-top box like the well-known modules of the SRG. After the CI+ module has been registered on the Kabelio website by means of a customer account, the three-month free period begins during which viewers can test the offer free of charge.

Buy Kabelio and extend it flexibly

The recommended retail price of the Kabelio module is CHF 59 including the three-month free trial period. It is sold via online stores such as Galaxus (www.galaxus.ch) and DigiTec (www.digitec.ch) as well as in stationary specialist shops. Specialist dealers can purchase the module from the company Palotec AG in Switzerland. After the free period, customers can choose between three extension options: three months for CHF 49, six months for CHF 79 or 12 months for CHF 149. A contractual commitment or subscription is therefore not necessary for the new Kabelio offer. Renewals can be activated quickly and conveniently in the customer account at www.Kabelio.cherworben and immediately.
